Korean bio venture SNVIA Co., Ltd. has partnered with Pusan National University Technology Holdings and Japanese pharmaceutical company Japan Bio Products (JBP) to jointly develop an advanced medical device that enables hemostasis and wound closure using light. The concept is based on “photocuring,” which solidifies internal wounds through light exposure. Unlike conventional chemical crosslinking technologies, PhotoQ-HA minimizes the burden on the human body while providing long-lasting stable adhesion and tissue-protective effects. In particular, it has been evaluated as having low phototoxicity—safe enough even when applied to the cornea of the eye—making it suitable for use in high-risk areas.

On the 13th, Prof. S.Yang stated, “Although photocrosslinking technology has existed for decades, it has not overcome the issues of phototoxicity and toxicity that hindered its application in the human body,” adding, “This joint development will serve as an opportunity to introduce a product line that meets both the safety and performance standards demanded in clinical settings.”
